FOX RIVER VALLEY PONY CLUB HORSE TRIAL
Fox River Valley Pony Club is dedicated to providing a quality event for our competitors and the community. But we would not be able to do it without the support of scores of volunteers who come to help us before and throughout the weekend of the horse trial. There are three phases of competition which require volunteers: dressage, cross country, and show jumping. Other areas requiring volunteers are parking, announcing, stabling, safety, set up and tear down of each phase, and course preparation and decoration. Some of the volunteer opportunities are listed below.
If you have any time to assist please contact our volunteer coordinator at organizer@frvpchorsetrials.org. Let us know your availability and in which areas you are interested in working. If you do not know what you would like to do, we’ll find something for you. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our horse trial and we could not do it without you!
FRVPC Horse Trials June 22-24 2012 Set up will be the week leading up to move in on Thursday, June 21
Dressage: Friday
Dressage Scribe: You will write the Dressage Judges marks and comments on the tests. It is helpful to have clear, easy to read handwriting. You will have the opportunity to view the dressage test from the judge’s vantage point-great way to learn!
We will also need bit checkers, ring stewards, and score runners.
Cross Country: Saturday
XC Fence Judges: Each cross country obstacle has one or two judges who are responsible for assessing penalties at the obstacle and who respond promptly in case of an emergency, and who ensure that the area around the obstacle is clear when each competitor approaches. You will be outside, in the Forest Preserve, with a ringside seat watching the horses doing what they love to do, galloping and jumping fences.
Warm Up Steward
You will ensure the smooth progression of competitors from your warm up arena to the start. You will need to observe that proper schooling practices are in use and inform the competitors how many rides away they are from their scheduled ride. In case of emergency you will be responsible for summoning assistance and notifying appropriate officials.
We will also need timers, pinney collectors, score couriers.
Show Jumping: Sunday
Ring Crew: You will be responsible to reset any jumps that are knocked down during the competition and make sure that the footing is in good form.
Timers: You will record the start and finish time for each round of show jumping. Prime vantage point to watch the action!
We will also need Gate Keepers and Warm Up Stewards for two rings on Sunday.
